Teaching

We use a wide range of methods, including lectures, small group seminars and tutorials, and film screenings.

Most modules in Levels 1 and 2 have two lectures and one tutorial each week.

This may vary in Levels 3 and 4, where you typically have one lecture and more small working groups or seminars per week.

Assessment

Assessments are carried out through coursework and examinations and vary in type and weighting from module to module. Most English modules do not have any exams at all as we find continuous assessment works best.

Coursework may involve:

  • essays
  • close analysis exercises
  • diary or journal entries
  • tests
  • class presentations
  • team projects
