Research at the University of Dundee
Transforming lives through research
Excellent research requires excellent ideas. We have some of the best researchers in the world working for us, developing ideas that make a positive impact and difference to the lives of people, the economy and the environment.
But we don't do this on our own – we build strong relationships and partnerships with industry, non-government organisations, public bodies and institutions across the world. This helps us achieve the University’s core purpose: to transform lives locally and globally. We focus our collective energy across four interdisciplinary challenge-led themes, which enables our research to address the UN Sustainable Development Goals and make a positive contribution to tackle challenges ranging from health, climate change, food security to poverty and social justice.
The University of Dundee has had 84% of our research assessed as "world leading" or "internationally excellent" in the Research Excellence Framework (REF) 2021, the major assessment of research performance across the UK higher education sector.
