Dignity and Respect Advisers
Dignity and Respect Advisers offer impartial and confidential support to staff or students on bullying, harassment and discrimination
If you feel you, or someone you know, is experiencing or has experienced bullying, harassment or discrimination, you can contact a Dignity and Respect Adviser (previously known as Harassment Advisers).
A Dignity and Respect Adviser can:
- listen non-judgementally
- offer confidential information on issues relating to harassment, bullying and equality
- explain procedures under the Dignity at Work and Study Policy
- refer the individual to other support systems
- contact the Dignity and Respect Adviser Network, EDI Team, Student Services or other appropriate teams when they need support or advice on a case
Dignity and Respect Adviser cannot:
- provide legal advice
- offer advice or solutions as to what you should do
- act as a representative or advocate
- be involved in any formal stage of the process
- make decisions on whether bullying or harassment has taken place
- provide support to both parties in a harassment case
- meet with the individual outside of office hours or University premises.
- maintain confidentiality if they believe that there is a risk of harm to you or others
