Updated on 11 August 2023

All University of Dundee staff have to complete equality, diversity and inclusion training

On this page

This training is designed to increase awareness and understanding, and to comply with our legislative requirements. Training is mandatory for all staff. Module completion rates are monitored by the Equality and Diversity Office, but individual performance is not monitored and is confidential.

Training structure

All staff must complete the following modules, which take between one and two hours to complete on average:

  • Diversity in the Workplace
  • Disability
  • Stress in the Workplace
  • A Manager's Guide to Stress

The Manager's Guide to Stress module is taken by all staff and not only managers so that staff understand stress management from all perspectives.

Two further modules are compulsory for some staff. These may take a little over two hours.

  • Staff involved with Learning and Teaching should complete the Diversity in Learning and Teaching module.
  • Staff involved in the recruitment and selection of University staff should complete the Recruitment and Selection module. This module covers both current legislation and University procedure.

If you need to complete either of these extra modules they should appear automatically on your training profile. If you don't see them, ask your Line Manager to request your access at diversity-training@dundee.ac.uk. The module will be made available on your profile.

How to complete the training

New staff will be registered automatically within a few weeks of starting and will receive an email with their password inviting them to login on the training website (new training pages to be available on My Dundee soon)

Existing staff can go to the training website and add their university email address in the Email field and click on 'forgotten password' to get a temporary password to login.

If you cannot complete your module in a single sitting you can save your progress using the bookmark option found in the navigation bar.

If your email address has changed, your training profile will update to your new address. This will normally happen the evening after your email has changed.

If you change departments or job you do not have to retake any training, but you may need to take the Diversity in Learning and Teaching or Recruitment and Selection modules if they have become relevant.

Once you have completed all required modules, you will receive a formal certificate from the People Support team.

Accessibility

The modules have been designed to be compatible with screen reading technology and other accessibility requirements. If you need to you can also customise the appearance using accessibility features of your web browser.

If you need any help completing the training, or have any questions, please email diversity-training@dundee.ac.uk.
