Teaching

The course takes place primarily in the studio environment. We use many different approaches to teaching and learning including:

  • workshops
  • studio demonstrations
  • seminars
  • practical lectures
  • live briefs
  • group tutorials
  • one-to-one tutorials
  • group critiques
  • self-assessment

Assessment

Assessment will be through the production of coursework deliverables:

  • a portfolio of finished responses to briefs and sketchbooks and development work

Typically, each module will have 2 to 4 assessable components. These will be coupled with formative feedback, group work and crits before assessment at the end of each module.

This course does not have any exams.

This is the Semester 1 studio module for Level 3 Illustration. It will build on the skills acquired in Level 2 and provide you with a further insight into this commercial practice.

Projects will vary in design, format and duration and will focus on drawing and storytelling.

Explore the intersection of artistic expression and scientific inquiry. You will investigate the role of visual thinking in both disciplines.

You will develop your own individual project. This will integrate artistic techniques with scientific concepts, fostering creativity and critical thinking.

This is the studio module for level 4 Illustration students.

It builds on what you learned in years 2 and 3. It leads to your final graduate portfolio for the Illustration honours degree.
