This optional module gives you experience of professional practice within the creative industries. Working with staff, you can identify a suitable placement with a creative host organisation and negotiate your role.

Before you begin, you attend a preparatory session covering health and safety, risk assessment, and professional ethics. You sign a student agreement and complete an agreed risk assessment. During the placement, you maintain a blog or journal recording your progress. At the end, you submit a reflective critique of your experience and contribution to the workplace.

Your host organisation may also submit a brief report on your performance. You can use this as a reference for future job applications and CV building. Staff are available for support by email throughout.

The placement can take place in the summer term, making it a genuinely extra-curricular opportunity. It is worth 10 credits, representing around 100 hours of work-based learning and independent study.
