You will develop a clear understanding of critical thinking and making from concept to creation. Your work in this module will be practice-led. This will allow you to develop an understanding of materials, construction, and fabrication.

What you will learn

In this module, you will:

  • learn a range of making skills. You will also have the opportunity to pursue your own independent maker agenda
  • understand the process of concept to creation
  • develop an understanding of materials/construction/fabrication
  • research methods and methodologies related to making

By the end of this module, you will be able to:

  • understand the critical making process. This will be done through the innovative use of materials and techniques in either a physical or virtual context
  • produce design solutions to an appropriate level for this stage
  • contextualise your design solutions and articulate their relevance
  • further enhance technical skills and awareness of processes
  • show self-management skills and independent working
  • address a range of critical making issues to include risk taking, problem solving and self-critique
