Engineering courses

Accredited courses in biomedical, civil, and mechanical engineering help you develop technical and problem-solving skills to tackle real-life challenges

Engineering is the application of science and mathematics to design solutions to real-world problems. At Dundee, our engineering courses cover three distinct disciplines: biomedical, civil, and mechanical.

Our courses all have a strong hands-on emphasis and are accredited by industry, so you'll graduate with the technical skills and professional credentials to move straight into your chosen career.

Undergraduate courses - Biomedical Engineering

Biomedical engineering applies engineering principles to healthcare. This involves designing medical devices, diagnostic tools, and the technologies that help clinicians treat patients. The city of Dundee has a strong medical research presence, and you'll be able to work with healthcare professionals at Ninewells Hospital to get a clear understanding of the problems that biomedical engineers are working to solve.

Undergraduate courses - Civil Engineering

Civil Engineering covers the design, construction, and maintenance of the infrastructure that modern society depends on - from roads, bridges, and flood defences to hospitals and water supply systems. At Dundee, our undergraduate Civil Engineering courses put a strong emphasis on tackling real-world environmental challenges. You'll be able to work on design projects alongside leading research staff from your very first year.

Undergraduate courses - Mechanical Engineering

Mechanical engineering is the branch of engineering concerned with machines and manufacturing processes. It applies mathematic and scientific principles to solve engineering challenges. At Dundee, students can take an 11-month placement at CERN as part of the only Scottish university partnership with the world's largest particle accelerator, join the DRIVE racing team to design and race a single-seat car, and even compete in the Formula Student competition at Silverstone!
