How to get involved with TASC PPI
Information about becoming a member of our Patient and Public Involvement (PPI) Group
If you are interested in becoming a member of our PPI group please fill out the Patient and Public Involvement interest form.
These are the types of activities that you could be involved in:
- Give feedback on study design and what the key research questions are
- Reading project specific information documents intended for patients and providing feedback on how easy they are to understand
- Being asked to join a research team as a lay member
- Advising on the best way to share research results at the end of projects
What to expect
- If you are interested in becoming a PPI member, we will hold an online induction session to introduce and discuss the role of the group and answer any questions you may have.
- Members must have an email address and access to a computer
- Members must agree to be contacted by email when a researcher requests PPI support
- You will be contacted via email when a researcher has asked for PPI support, you will be provided with information on what is involved and asked if you would like to take part in the PPI activity
- Most of the contact will be through email, although some online meetings will be required
- Group members will receive a small payment or voucher for their time
- Your contact details will be held on a secure database which only the PPI and University of Dundee Finance Team will have access to

Activities
Our PPI group have been involved in:
- Reading documents associated to new treatment for root canal treatment and meeting online to learn more and discuss the project details
- Reviewing documents for a project associated to antidepressants and antibiotic resistance
- Online meeting to learn more about the a project related to the effects on your heart when smoking usual cigarettes versus electronic cigarette
