The Value of Water
The UNESCO Centre for Water Law, Policy & Science hosted this talk which was delivered by Dr Sarah Halliday of the Division of Energy, Environment and Society within the School of Humanities, Social Sciences & Law. Sarah presented on The Value of Water project, which was commissioned by the Hydro Nation Chair Catalyst Fund to improve water stewardship for increased drought and flood resilience by understanding individuals and organisations use water. The talk resulted in an engaging discussion about societal attitudes to water and how change can be best achieved.
Developing risk assessment approaches for emerging contaminants in Scottish drinking water sources
Understanding the occurrence and concentrations of chemicals in the environment is crucial to manage their use and mitigate their impact on people and the environment. The presented project commissioned by Scotland’s Centre of Expertise for Waters (CREW), focuses on per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) and two endocrine disrupting substances (17β-estradiol and nonylphenol) on the newly established drinking water watchlist, and develops an approach to assess potential for their presence in Scottish freshwater environment. The presentation will provide an overview of the methods and results and will discuss lessons learned for risk assessing emerging contaminants.

TCELT research seminar - November 2023
Sam Ross is a PhD student awaiting her viva at the University of St Andrews Business School. Her PhD was inspired by working in a variety of professional service roles at the University and observing succession transitions. She is now the Manager at the St Andrews Preservation Trust, where there has been a significant change programme to implement. She enjoys swimming, yoga, cooking and wine. Email: [email protected]
This talk will focus on the findings of Sam’s thesis, which explored experiences of succession across 43 UK universities. A followership lens is applied to the data of 121 interviews, with findings highlighting how the transition of a successor can catalyse internal and practical transitions for surrounding staff.
Protein Degradation in Focus Symposium
Registration is now closed- symposium oversubscribed.
The 2024 Symposium “Protein Degradation in Focus: A Special Symposium to Celebrate the Opening of CeTPD in Dundee”.
With this event, we aim to foster collaboration, innovation and knowledge exchange among leading scientists, researchers and industry experts in the field of protein degradation and beyond. We will explore the latest scientific advancements and celebrate the opening of the new Centre for Targeted Protein Degradation (CeTPD) at the University of Dundee. The Symposium aims to provide a platform that enables networking, interdisciplinary interactions and dedicated sessions for early-career development and mentorship opportunities.
The scientific organisers: Alessio Ciulli, Brenda Schulman, Craig Crews, Valentina Spiteri and Charlotte Crowe.
