Macroeconomic decisions are made every day that impact our lives, you will learn more about these Policies and how governments make their decisions.

Using Econland, an economic simulation game, you will have the chance to make the Macroeconomic decisions and learn how the theories work in practise.

What you will learn

In this module, you will:

  • learn how to use Econland, an economic simulation game in which you are responsible for the decisions for the fictional country of Econland
  • understand core macroeconomic concepts
  • apply economic principles and reason to fiscal and monetary policy
  • consider the main theoretical developments in modern macroeconomics
  • use verbal, graphical, mathematical and statistical representations of macroeconomic data
  • learn the application of analytical methods in macroeconomics

By the end of the module you will be able to:

  • discuss the essential features of complex economic systems and apply macroeconomic models in a logical manner
  • contribute to the design and evaluation of policy from an economic perspective
  • understand and interpret numerical and graphical data

Assignments / assessment

  • Essay (50%)
  • Report (50%)

This module does not have a final exam.
