Teaching

We provide you with short recorded online tutorials, followed up with more hands-on workshops. This gives you a rich learning experience and also means you can access materials online whenever it suits you most, including when you are on placements. You will also learn through group tutorials, peer learning, individual study and placements.

The two on-campus modules last for 18 weeks in total, spread out across the academic year, and the three school placements last for six weeks each. Each placement is preceded by time on campus, where tutorials and workshops will explore relevant areas of the curriculum and teaching theory.

The placements allow you to put the theory into practice and gain vital teaching experience by participating in everyday school life. They are likely to take place in schools in Dundee, Fife, Perth & Kinross, and Angus.

Assessment

Each campus-based module is assessed by written assignments. You can choose whether to submit your assessment at undergraduate or postgraduate level, following guidance and advice from your tutors. If you pass at postgraduate level, you can use these credits to gain advanced entry into a postgraduate qualification, for example the Master of Education (MEd) Leading Learning & Teaching course.

Each of your three placements are assessed by both University staff and school partners, based on your performance throughout the placement and tutor observation.
