We are welcoming back Primrose Harrington-Garnett and Dr Nicholas Garnett to join Dr Charlotte Bagnall to discuss their primary-secondary school transitions experiences.
Primrose is currently in Year 7 (S1 in Scotland) and will share her thoughts and feelings about her early experiences of the transitions to secondary school, as well as her views of the effectiveness of the provision she received from her primary school, secondary school, friends and family. This is a follow-up from the discussions we had with Primrose and Nick in February 2023 as they were preparing for primary-secondary school transitions.
Nick, as well as a father, is a Principal Lecturer in the Department of Psychology at Nottingham Trent University. His main research interests broadly focus on: intervention science, self-limiting behaviours in education, and the influence of policy on pupil outcomes. As well as sharing his experiences negotiating primary-secondary school transitions as a father supporting his daughter, he will also reflect on intervention research he has conducted within the field.
Dr Charlotte Bagnall is a Lecturer at the University of Manchester in Manchester’s Institute of Education. Her research is focused on supporting children’s emotional wellbeing within schools, particularly over primary-secondary school transitions. As part of her programme of research she is currently the Principal Investigator of the Primary-Secondary School Transitions Emotional Wellbeing Scale design and validation project.
Come and join the conversation about primary-secondary school transitions from the perspective of a child and parent
