Car parking

Car parking on City campus between 08:00 - 17:30 Monday to Friday is limited to permit holders

General public

Members of the public are not allowed to park on campus between the hours of 08:00 and 17:30 Monday to Friday.

Outwith these times, they can park on city campus by paying an appropriate fee via the RingGo app. Fees for non-permit holders are applicable Monday to Friday from 17:30 to 00:00 and Saturday and Sunday from 08:00 to 00:00.

Alternative parking is available on the surrounding streets, and public car parks near the campus. See Dundee City Council car parking web pages for full details including time limits and charges.

Parking without a permit, or other infringements, will incur a charge of £85 per day

Infringements of the parking regulations will be subject to a civil charge on each occasion of offence.

If you have received a civil charge you can pay the charge online.

Staff parking

Staff can apply for a parking permit to park on a University of Dundee managed car park Monday to Friday.

Prices are valid from 1 May 2024 to 30 April 2025

Permits are limited in number. An application for a permit is not a guarantee you will receive one. 

Permits should be collected from the Estates and Campus Services helpdesk, Ground Floor, Ewing Building.

Standard parking permit 2024-25

A standard permit is £384 per year for unlimited parking on City campus. You can pay by debit/credit card in full, or as 12 monthly payments (or however many months remain in the year).

Pay As You Go permit

For less frequent parking, you can use a Pay As You Go permit.

£38 for initial permit, plus PAYG charges when using the car parks between 08:00-midnight Monday to Sunday.

Parking between 08:00 and 17:30 Monday-Friday is limited to permit holders only.

Disabled parking

Staff, students, or visitors with a local authority issued Blue Badge may park for free, without a permit, in designated accessible parking bays only.

Blue Badge holders may not park outwith designated accessible spaces, or on single or double yellow lines. Parking in a standard bay, or on single of double yellow lines will result in a Parking Charge Notice being issued. Parking in a standard parking bay requires a Standard or PAYG permit, even with a Blue Badge.

Green Badge scheme

Staff or students may be eligible for a temporary Green Badge by Occupational Health or Disability Services respectively.

Student parking

Parking between 08:00 and 17:30 Monday-Friday is limited to staff only.

Students can pay to park on City campus outwith these times by paying the Pay As You Go charges using RingGo.

Fees for non-permit holders are applicable Monday to Friday from 17:30 to 00:00 and Saturday and Sunday from 08:00 to 00:00.

Student Blue Badge / Green Badge holders

Students with a local authority issued Blue Badge may park for free, without a permit, in designated accessible parking bays only. Parking in a standard bay, or on single of double yellow lines will result in a Parking Charge Notice being issued.

Students with a temporary need for accessible parking should speak to Disability Services who may be able to issue a temporary Green Badge for use on City campus subject to the same rules as Blue Badge holders.

Parking at Seabraes / West Park residences

A limited number of permits are available from Sanctuary Students

Official visitors to City Campus

If you have been invited by a member of staff for a business meeting, guest lecture, or other official business you can apply for a visitor permit to park on City Campus during office hours.

Visitor permits are valid from 08:00-00:00 Monday-Friday and cost £5 per day. You will need a RingGo account to use this service.

Requesting a visitor permit

Ask your host School / Directorate for a visitor permit. You will receive an email with details on how to apply for a permit and a special visitor location code.

Parking with a visitor permit

Once you find an available space on City campus, you should pay the parking charge using RingGo.

You need to use the visitor location code supplied, not the standard location code. This will not appear using the "near me" function.

Visitor Permits are not available for the general public, staff, and students. Unauthorised use of the visitor location code without a valid visitor permit will result in a Parking Charge Notice being issued.

A visitor permit does not guarantee an available space. You should not pay for parking until you have successfully parked.

VIP parking

All VIP visits should be co-ordinated through the Principal’s Office. If your VIP requires special parking, you need to ensure that this is included in your message and that you CC parking@dundee.ac.uk.

This is for VIP visitors ONLY so we can review relevant arrangements for car parking (City campus only) in recognition that they may have specific requirements

Contractor parking

Contractors who require access to park on City campus may be eligible for free parking for the duration of their attendance subject to their contract terms and conditions. Contractors must be registered with a valid entry on the Contractor Tracker to qualify for free parking. Permits are available from the Ewing Building when Contractors register their attendance on campus.

Ninewells Campus

Car Parking for students and visitors to Ninewells Hospital is administered by Saba Parking on behalf of NHS Scotland. Permits are available to staff  - ask your NHS department for further information.

Kirkcaldy Campus

There are two car parking areas at the Kirkcaldy Campus. Enter the main car park via Forth Avenue and the second via Whyte Melville Road. There are over 150 parking spaces available to students and staff at no charge.
