You will learn about key dimensions of the concept of an unequal world in human and environmental systems. This will cover a number of topics. These will include:
- development
- vulnerability
- underlying causes
- global inequalities
- pressures on environmental resources
- links to environmental hazard
What you will learn
In this module, you will:
- learn about the major areas of Geography
- be introduced to vocabulary, methodologies and theory underpinning major areas of geographical enquiry
- develop skills in geographic comprehension and spatial awareness
- develop analytical techniques in obtaining, handling and interpreting geographical information
By the end of this module, you will be able to:
- understand the vocabulary, methodology and theories underpinning geographical explanation
- apply them to the analysis of real world case studies
- develop a deeper appreciation of systematic processes of global change
- understand how dimensions of human and environmental systems intersect. This will be in relation to topics such as:
- vulnerability and resilience
- aspects of climate change
- habitat change
- natural hazards
- gain skills in reading and evaluating academic publications.
- develop skills in logical analysis and presentation of arguments on real-world case studies
