Estates and Buildings
Our teams and services include:
Building Fabric Section
Responsible for internal and external maintenance of all university buildings, external roads and footpaths, facilitating events, DDA compliance, pest control, and fire safety.
Controls Section
Ensures campus buildings are heated, cooled, and ventilated to optimum temperatures.
The majority of electricity consumed on City Campus is generated at the Energy Centre on Park Place, a highly efficient combined heat and power (CHP) plant.
Electrical Section
Involved in all major capital projects and investments specifically those involved in energy saving designs and saving money. Responsible for building electrical statutory and regulatory maintenance and breakdown on all electrical infrastructure.
Mechanical
Our team of multi-skilled building service engineers provide technical advice and support to colleagues and external partners about the design and installation of engineering services within new build and existing building refurbishment projects.
Team members also have day-to-day responsibility for maintaining cost-effective and energy efficient systems for engineering services such as heating, cooling, air conditioning, ventilation, and plumbing systems. We carry out 24/7 reactive repairs, preventative planned maintenance, and statutory compliance engineering activities across the University`s property portfolio.
Projects
Our projects team provide the following in-house services:
- Project management for construction projects, from the initial stakeholder engagement and brief, to the design process, procurement and delivery on site.
- Space management advice, with the aim of making effective and efficient use of buildings within the University’s estate.
- Construction-related procurement advice, and the management of supplier, consultant and contractor framework agreements.

Provide health and safety advice, training, and direction to all Estates and other University colleagues

Security
Located in the Ewing Building, we provide a 24/7 service to help the University in providing a safe and secure environment for staff, students, and visitors.
Out of Hours, they are the main Point of Contact for emergency issues.

Breach of security
Report an incident involving a breach of security on any of our campuses.
Car parking
Parking Management is undertaken by a Traffic Warden and Security Team.

Mailroom
Located in the Tower Building, the Mailroom handle all internal and external mail proving a central delivery point for University mail.
Open Monday - Friday 08:00 - 17:00
Cleaning
Provide cleaning services for internal areas of City Campus (except ISE and LLC staff areas). For specific cleaning requests contact using the estates help desk. For Ninewells and Kirkcaldy campuses please contact NHS Tayside or School of Health Sciences (Kirkcaldy) cleaning staff respectively.
