Ice Skating

Dundee Uni Ice Skating Club welcomes skaters of all abilities onto the ice aiming to create a fun and supportive environment and bring people together through their love of ice skating. Whether you’re a complete beginner or have been skating for years there is space for everyone! If you've ever watched the figure skating Olympics, Dancing on Ice or even just seen someone skate and been interested in learning, now is your chance to come along and give it a go!

Our training sessions are every Wednesday afternoon where we also have a coach present running lessons that cater to anyone at any stage of their skating journey. As well as that, we have fortnightly Saturday afternoon sessions where we can practice, try fun new moves, and spend time together helping each other improve. We also run occasional ‘Off Ice’ training sessions to improve strength, flexibility and jumps! An exciting event to look forward to is the annual Scottish inter-Uni ice skating competition! This gives everyone a chance to show off all their hard work!

Curling

Dundee Uni Curling Club is an inclusive and welcoming group, accepting members from all backgrounds and all experience levels. Whether you're already a pro on the ice, or you've never even heard of curling before now, we have opportunities for you to try new things, have fun, meet new people, enhance your skills, and embrace your competitive side.

The curling season runs from September to April, and we will be running regular training sessions at local ice rinks to give you a hands-on experience of 'The Roaring Game'. In our sessions you will learn all the basics such as sliding and sweeping and receive coaching to develop your skills to the best of your ability, as well as playing real curling matches! We will also be hosting some off-ice sessions to play indoor 'floor' curling, discuss strategy, and watch high level curling matches.

If you want to play competitively, you will have the opportunity to take part in internal competitive matches as well as external competitions and leagues such as:

  • The SSS Student League: day sessions played in Perth across the season
  • The SSS Open: a lively weekend competition, played over a weekend in Stranraer in March

The joint Ice Sports Club holds weekly socials where we get discounted food and drinks at our sponsored venues, and you can meet a friendly community of ice sports enthusiasts.
