The Sports Union is always looking for individuals who are interested in supporting or developing our student sports clubs.

Coaching Opportunities

Hockey Women’s

Dundee University Ladies Hockey Club are searching for a motivated individual to take on the role of coach for our 1XI – BUCs Scottish Tier 1 Champions 2024/25. As a Club, we have five teams in BUCs as well as 4 teams on Saturday leagues with the 1s competing BUCS Scottish Tier 1, and Scottish Hockey's Championship and Regional leagues.

  • Training time specifics/requirements/expectations: Availability for training sessions on Tuesday and Thursday nights. Wednesday afternoon availability for matches. Preparation of match day tactics. Regular evaluation of the team and their performance. Regular communication with the captain and vice as well as other teams to improve development. Support development of officials and coaches.
  • Hourly rate: to be discussed.
  • Desirable qualities:
    • Qualified to at least Scottish/FIH Level 2
    • Experience and success in coaching competitive adult teams
    • Excellent understanding of the technical and tactical aspects of the game
    • Excellent inter-personal and communication skills
    • High-level organisational skills
    • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with other coaches and associated staff
    • Demonstrated ability to integrate and develop young/inexperienced players
    • Ability to coach a range of skill levels
    • Reliability and punctuality
    • Knowledge of BUCS
    • Experience in University Hockey

Netball

  • Salary: Dependant on qualifications and experience
  • Squad Level: The club as a whole, but mainly the 1st and 2nd teams
  • Training: Coach all Thursday sessions (19:00-21:30) and attend all/majority of Saturday matches (desirable).

Volleyball (Men’s and Women’s 1X)

  • Salary: Paid
  • Squad Level: Men’s 1st (BUCS Tier 1) and Women’s 1st (BUCS Tier 1)
  • Coaching qualifications preferred.

Basketball Women’s 

Rugby Men's

  •  Salary: Voluntary
  • Squad Level: 2s
  • Training: Monday and Friday evening training sessions and Wednesday game days, however, as this is a voluntary position it's understandable all 3 may be unattainable

Lacrosse

  •  Salary: Paid (TBD)
  • Squad Level: 1x team in BUCS League 2 and social players. Coaching is for the Lacrosse members as a whole.
  • Training: Monday 18:00-19:45 and Thursday 18:00-19:30 at Riverside Playing Fields. Attendance at Wednesday BUCS games.
