Develop the academic and scientific communication skills needed for success in your postgraduate studies and research projects.

You will develop scientific writing, literature appraisal, data analysis and presentation skills.

Teaching will be delivered by mainly face-to-face sessions, with additional online resources accessed via My Dundee, the University's virtual learning environment.

You will explore the social, economic and psychological determinants of oral health, how they drive inequalities and learn how to synthesise and apply the evidence base to address complex public health issues.

This module explores why many people don't get the dental care they need, and what can be done about it.

You'll study topics like:

how social exclusion affects oral health outcomes
how inclusion oral health strategies can help tackle global oral health inequities

You'll also develop a research or service improvement plan, applying the principles of co-design and community engagement.

This module gives you a comprehensive, critical understanding of the techniques applicable to oral epidemiology and needs assessment.

The knowledge and skills gained can be used to plan, execute and evaluate oral health surveys.
