Health promotion is a cornerstone of modern public health practice, and this module equips you with both the theoretical foundations and the practical tools to work in the field. Starting with the Ottawa Charter, you will explore frameworks for planning and evaluating health promotion programmes, and examine how local, national and international policy shapes practice.

You will study how to assess community needs, design targeted and tailored interventions and use empowerment approaches to support health behaviour change.

Teaching is delivered face to face through lectures, seminars, tutorials and discussion sessions. Guest lecturers bring real-world practice perspectives to the topics covered, and online resources support self-directed learning and assignment preparation.
