Teaching and assessment for Dental Public Health with Clinical Dentistry (Advanced Entry) MDPH

This module gives you a comprehensive and critical understanding of dental public health practice.

You will ​explore the social, economic and psychological determinants of oral health, how they drive inequalities and learn how to synthesise and apply the evidence base to address complex public health issues.

​​This module explores why many people don't get the dental care they need, and what can be done about it.

​ You'll study topics like:

• ​ how social exclusion affects oral health outcomes 
• ​how inclusion oral health strategies can help tackle global oral health inequities  

​ You'll also develop a research or service improvement plan, applying the principles of co-design and community engagement.

​This module gives you a comprehensive and critical understanding of the principles, philosophy and strategies underpinning health promotion

​This module gives you a comprehensive, critical understanding of the techniques applicable to oral epidemiology and needs assessment.

The knowledge and skills gained can be used to plan, execute and evaluate oral health surveys.​

​This module gives you the opportunity to carry out an independent research project in your area of dental postgraduate study.

Working with an academic supervisor, you will design and execute a research protocol, conduct a thorough literature review and produce a written project of up to 4,500 words.​

Learn about basic statistics and statistical procedures - the terminology, concepts, application, and interpretation of results.

Look at how statistics can summarise and describe the main features of a dataset. Also, how sample data can help you draw conclusions and make predictions about a larger population.
