Structures module (CE22003)
10
CE22003
The module will build on structural engineering teaching from year one and give students the necessary knowledge and means to commence design of structural systems in the third-year structures modules. Core contents include: structural form and structural systems; restraints and actions in structures; statically determinate, statically indeterminate and unstable structures; equilibrium analysis of structures; graphic statics and qualitative analysis of structures; stress diagrams and deflected shapes; equilibrium, kinematic and constitutive equations for beams; governing differential equations for beams; elastic stability of axially loaded members; elastic-plastic constitutive behaviour of structural members; sustainable design of structural members.
