You will learn how real life organisational examples, both classical and contemporary theories, developing a range of practical and analytical skills.

This will allow you to better understand the behaviour of employees in the workplace, which will help regardless of your chosen career path.

What you will learn

In this module, you will:

  • understand the role of Human Resource Management (HRM)
  • learn the impact of stress on individuals and workplace wellbeing
  • explore different leadership and management styles
  • discover how motivation and job satisfaction are linked

By the end of this module, you will be able to:

  • describe, compare, and discuss theories of organisational behaviour and organisational management
  • connect theory and research to the practice of management and organisational behaviour
  • assimilate and evaluate the information given in organisational research journal articles and academic texts
  • explain and interpret the complex, political, and power-based nature of organisations and society
  • organise group working and communicate in an appropriate manner for a variety of audiences
  • analyse and bring together information from a range of sources (for example: academic, practitioner, internet, and media)

Assignments / assessment

  • Weekly quizzes (30%)
  • Individual coursework (70%)

This module does not have a final exam.

Teaching methods / timetable

This module will be delivered by a combination of lectures, tutorials, and group discussion. Material is covered in lectures, reinforced with examples and reading in the tutorials and supplemented with reading lists for the different topics covered.
