Business Management in Practice BSc (Hons)
Gain a degree in Business Management in three years. A new approach for a Scottish University, mirroring the three year degree length on offer throughout the rest of the UK.
A degree in Business Management can be a popular choice as it is broad in its content, and covers all key areas of business, rather than focussing specifically on one area. Students will study such things as; developing teams and people; creating operational and marketing plans; planning and managing projects; operations; sustainability; globalisation; social responsibility; strategy; managing change, innovation and creativity; knowledge and risk management; digital business; marketing and markets; data analytics; managing finance, accounting, resources, stakeholders and customer experience; creation of new approaches to business activities; managing quality and performance as well as the human resource function.
Learning the theory behind business and management techniques and tools is also important. But we try and make sure students understand the nature, impact and limitations of these business and management techniques and tools.
Global internships
We try to prepare students for the reality of work and help them understand how both management and non-management workers can influence a business’ performance. Whilst encouraging students to develop key transferable skills and take responsibility for their own learning and the opportunities presented to them to help their future careers.
Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB)
AACSB accreditation ensures that business schools meet the highest standards of excellence in teaching, research, curriculum, and learner success.
Global internship opportunities
This course includes an optional eight-week internship matched to your chosen industry. Employers overwhelmingly believe graduates who have an internship experience are more employable due to your increased experience of the workings of international companies and organisations.
The available list of countries in countries varies but in previous years has included China, Spain, Portugal, Vietnam, and the UK (Manchester). In the case of visa restrictions for some international students, there are UK-based and remote internships with firms in countries such as the US, Canada, Australia, India, or France.
Support during your internship
Our internships are arranged with Pagoda Projects, who have over 30 years experience providing international internships.
You will be supported throughout your time with
- dedicated Skype contacts or Facebook groups
- optional social, networking, and travel activities
- an English speaking tutor during your internship who will give you ongoing support
- 24-hour emergency contact
You will be able to apply for the internship during year two of your course. We expect around 25-50% of students choose to take part in an internship.
