Advanced Robotics module (ME51013)

This module provides additional exposure and experience within advanced robotics, as used in advanced manufacturing, autonomous vehicles, and robotics research and will investigate topics such as: practical and simulated robotic control systems, multi-modal data fusion for intelligent decision making, and incorporation of active and passive compliance to make robots safer to be around.

You’ll be introduced to Smart Manufacturing, Industry 4.0, and the benefits of adaptable automation systems. Widespread use of system data for status and pro-active decision making helps companies monitor internal systems and provide links to external parties (e.g., vendors, suppliers, customers).

Practical skills for autonomous mobile robot localisation, navigation, and mapping will be learned. These skills allow mobile robots to determine where they are and how best to reach a desired position quickly and safely.
