Aims

This module aims to:

  • provide students with a knowledge of Employment Law and a critical appreciation of the social, political, economic and organisational issues raised
  • enable students to apply employment law within its practical contex

Examples of content

  • the institutional framework of employment law
  • the contractual foundations of the employment relationship
  • unfair dismissals and wrongful dismissals
  • redundancy and reorganisations
  • equality in employment

Plus an issue of current importance – for instance:

  • Stress at work/bullying and harassment
  • Health and safety
  • The gig economy
