Public engagement in LRCFS
LRCFS holds a Gold Watermark in Public Engagement from the NCCPE

We work with members of the public, schools, industry and representatives from across the criminal justice ecosystem to strengthen the scientific robustness underpinning the analysis, interpretation and evaluation of the forensic evidence being used in our courts.
We also explore the development of new techniques for using science in the service of truth and justice. One of our cornerstones is developing new ways to make science understandable and accessible to everyone within the judicial process where the clear communication of science is of such huge importance.
Our public engagement vision
Public engagement underpins our mission to raise the standards of science used in our courts. It is fundamental to informing and guiding all of our research. To build trust in science we consult, collaborate and communicate with partners in the justice system, industry and the public. Through public engagement we strengthen our research and contribute positively to society by responding to real life needs.
Our aims
- Establish confidence in the use of science within the justice system
- Create a research culture that is engaged with the justice system, industry and the public to meet the needs of society
- Inspire and encourage the next generation of researcher and forensic practitioners who can support safe justice
You can view our public engagement and join in with our citizen science projects listed below. View our upcoming events and follow us on Facebook and Twitter to keep up to date.
