Whilst we are unable to use funds to support f2f seminars/project networking, establishing research ideas at the moment, there is still opportunity for staff who were awarded 2020 IIG funding to hold events.

These projects could possibly be adapted to an online format.

Extractive Hub Project – Peter Cameron and Maria Augusta Paim – CEPMLP

The Extractive Hub received funding for accommodation, catering and networking opportunities, to hold a one day event attracting internationally renowned external speakers.

The event will promote active conversation about the topic of mining, water and health, characterised by a variety of environmental, social, legal and technical concerns. The webinar gathers academics and stakeholders from different disciplines across ISSR member schools, School of Social Sciences, (CEPMLP, CWLPS, Law, Geography and Environmental Sciences), Health Sciences, Education and Social Work and beyond.

We will be joined by colleagues from (Uyo University and Bayero University in Nigeria, and RWTH Aachen University in Germany).

The Extractives Hub is a project from the Centre for Energy, Petroleum, and Mineral Law and Policy (CEPMLP), UoD, funded through the UK Aid programme, ‘Releasing the Transformational Potential of Extractives for Economic Development’, managed by the UK Department for International Development (DFID-UK).
