Global Excellence Scholarship 2025/6 

(“the Scholarship”)

This Key Facts Document sets out the main details of the Scholarship, as at date of publication. This document should be reviewed alongside the University of Dundee Scholarship and Bursary Terms and Conditions, as those terms and conditions will provide you with additional information that apply to you in respect of the Scholarship. If there is any inconsistency between this Key Facts Document and the University of Dundee Scholarship and Bursary Terms and Conditions, the provisions of the Scholarship and Bursary Terms and Conditions will prevail.

Application Process

There is no separate application form for the Global Excellence Scholarship. Your eligibility will be based on the information you provide to the University during the application process.

  • The University of Dundee Admissions Team will use all information on your application to study to determine if you meet the eligibility criteria.
  • This verification process will happen at the initial Offer Stage.
  • You must ensure the information in your application and any supporting documentation is correct, complete, accurate and up to date as any award is based on this information. The University of Dundee reserves the right to withdraw this award if you have submitted information which is false, fraudulent, incorrect, or misleading.
  • Where you have 'pending' academic achievements at point of Offer, the University will not be able to confirm the scholarship until academic achievements have been submitted and verified.
  • Where you do not meet the criteria for this scholarship, the University may inform you of other scholarships available.

Who is eligible?

You must:

  1. Hold an offer to study an eligible Undergraduate or Postgraduate Taught programme at the University of Dundee:
  • Undergraduate - Hold an offer for a full time, on campus programme. This excludes any programme in the School of Medicine or the School of Dentistry.

    Please note: The programme must be 120 credits.

  • Postgraduate taught- hold an offer for a full time, on campus programme in any academic school. This excludes the PGDip in Professional Legal Practice.
  • Master of Research - all Masters by Research Programmes are covered by this scholarship.

    Please note: the programme must be 180 credits.
  1. Be starting your programme in September 2025 or January 2026.
  2. Have achieved:
  • Undergraduate - UK BBB A-Level or above (or equivalent).
  • Postgraduate Taught UK 1st Class degree (or equivalent).

    UK Equivalencies of all Academic Qualifications are at the discretion of the University of Dundee.
  1. Be classified as an International Fee-paying student by the University of Dundee.
  2. Not be studying a PhD Programme.
  3. Have a programme tuition fee of £21,600
  4. If you have been made an offer related to a Partnership with the UoD, you may be offered partnership scholarship.
    Partnership Agreements students are entitled to either a partnership discount or a UoD Open Scholarship.

Any programme which does not have a fee of this value, or above, will not be considered for this award.

Scholarship Information

  1. The value of this scholarship is £5,000 and is awarded as a tuition fee waiver. No direct payment is made to any applicant.
  2. The scholarship is paid in each year of applicable study:
  • Undergraduate applicants can receive the scholarship for up to 5 years of progressing study (maximum of £25,000 over 5 years).
  • Where the programme is a 3.5-year Undergraduate Degree (School of Business) then the scholarship will only be applied in Year 2 onwards.
  • Postgraduate Taught applicants (including Master of Research and Masters by Research) - where the programme of study spans more than 12 months full time, and a full year tuition fee is due in each academic year, then the scholarship can be applied in both years of study.
  1. Scholarships are awarded on an Unconditional basis. However, this is not linked to the programme application status.
  2. Scholarships cannot be awarded on a pro-rata basis.

Key Information

  1. This scholarship is applicable to the entry year to the University of Dundee only and cannot be backdated to previous years. The University will not offer a& scholarship to students who have matriculated at the University onto the programme of study.
  2. You are unable to combine the Global Excellence scholarship with any other University of Dundee scholarship, except for the following:
  • Alumni Scholarship
  • Community Scholarship
    • If you are eligible for two scholarships, they can be combined to a maximum of £8,000.
  • If you have an externally funded scholarship that covers part of the full tuition fee, this can be awarded alongside one or more University of Dundee scholarships (provided that the total of the awards combined does not exceed the total University of Dundee tuition fee).
  • If you have a fully funded external scholarship, the Global Excellence Scholarship will be removed as all tuition fees are covered. The University will not provide the Global Excellence Scholarship as an additional award.
  1. Should you wish to defer their entry to the University of Dundee, the following rules apply:
  • Deferral within the same academic year: Scholarship can be deferred.
  • Deferral to a new academic year: Scholarship cannot be deferred.
  1. The Bursary will be suspended for periods of leave / absence. The Bursary will be reinstated on your return to full time study from the point on which your period of study was suspended. For the avoidance of any doubt, the maximum amount that can be paid under this bursary is £25,000.
  2. Clearing applicants are eligible to receive this scholarship, and eligibility will be assessed as above.
  3. International College Dundee applicants are not eligible to receive the Global Excellence Scholarship.
  • International College Dundee applicants would instead be considered for the Progressing with Excellence Scholarship Award (ICD equivalent of Global Excellence Scholarship).
  1. Changes to the programme of study:
  • If you change programme before/ during matriculation or after latest start date (30.09.2025), the University of Dundee reserves the right to re-assess
  • eligibility for scholarships and may retract the Scholarship Offer should your eligibility have changed.
  • If you change Fee status or any other personal information before, during or after matriculation, the University of Dundee reserves the right to re-assess eligibility for scholarships and may retract the Scholarship Offer should your eligibility have changed.
  1. If you have paid your tuition fees in full prior to being awarded the Global Excellence Scholarship, the value of the scholarship will be refunded to you after you have enrolled at the University of Dundee. Alternatively, this can be transferred to your University accommodation account balance (if applicable).&n
  2. The scholarship is only paid in the years in which full tuition fees are paid. This applies to applicants who may study abroad during their Undergraduate studies. The University of Dundee will confirm the status of the scholarship where required.
  3. All communication with you will be via email, to your @dundee.ac.uk email address. We may also communicate with other email addresses provided to us by you or alternatively via the online applicant portal. Types of communication may be:
  • Confirming the scholarship.
  • Informing you that you have not met the criteria to be awarded the scholarship.
  • Requesting further information.
  1. The University of Dundee is unable to disclose details of the scholarship to anyone other than you unless you provide your consent to do so.
  2. Should you withdraw from your programme of study, the University of Dundee may be in contact regarding payment of fees and scholarship balance.
  3. All scholarship and bursary decisions are final and cannot be appealed.

Global Excellence Scholarship 2026/27

(“the Scholarship”)

September 2025, applicable to 2026/7 academic year (September 2026 or January 2027 entry).

    • Undergraduate - Hold an offer for a full-time, on campus programme. This excludes any programme in the School of Medicine or the School of Dentistry.
      • Programme fee must be £21,800 or above for Undergraduate programmes.
    • Postgraduate Taught - Hold an offer for a full time, on campus taught programme in any academic school, leading to the award of a Master’s degree
      • Programme fee must be £22,250 or above

    Any programme which does not have a fee of this value, or above, will not be considered for this award.

  2. Your programme must be for September 2026 or January 2027.
  3. Have achieved:
    • Undergraduate - AAB at A-Level or above (or equivalent).
    • Postgraduate Taught (including Graduate Entry LLB)- UK 1st Class degree (or equivalent).

UK Equivalencies of all Academic Qualifications are at the discretion of the University of Dundee.

  1. Be classified as an International Fee-paying student by the University of Dundee.

Scholarship Information

  1. The value of this scholarship is as follows;

    • £7,500 for Undergraduate or
    • £8,000 for Postgraduate Taught

    The scholarship is awarded as a tuition fee discount. No direct payment is made to any applicant

  2. The scholarship is awarded in each year of applicable study:
    • Undergraduate applicants can receive the scholarship for up to 5 years of progressing study (maximum of £37,500 over 5 years).
    • Where the programme is a 3.5-year Undergraduate Degree (School of Business), then the scholarship will only be applied for academic years with a full fee charged (excluding years with 50% fee).
    • Postgraduate Taught applicants - where the programme of study spans more than 12 months full time, and a full year eligible tuition fee is due in each academic year, then the scholarship can be applied in all years of study.

Key Information

  1. This scholarship is applicable to the entry year to the University of Dundee only and cannot be backdated to previous years.
  2. You may be eligible for more than one University of Dundee scholarship but only up to a maximum of 50% of your tuition fee total.
  3. The Global Excellence Scholarship may be held in conjunction with other University of Dundee scholarships, including:
    • The Alumni Scholarship OR
    • The Alumni and Family Scholarship
  4. The Global Excellence Scholarship may not be held in conjunction with the following University of Dundee scholarships:
    • The Vice-Chancellor's Scholarship
    • GEMS
  5. The Global Excellence Scholarship may not be held in conjunction with named external scholarships, including:
    • The Chevening Scholarship
    • The Commonwealth Scholarship
    • The Great Scholarship
  6. If you have an externally funded scholarship that covers part of the full tuition fee, any applicable University of Dundee scholarships, for which you are eligible, may be awarded (provided that any University of Dundee scholarships are up to a maximum of 50% of your tuition fee total, and the total value of the awards combined does not exceed the total University of Dundee tuition fee).
  7. If your tuition fees are paid in full by an external sponsorship body no University of Dundee scholarships or discounts will be applicable, unless there is an agreement to this effect with the relevant sponsorship body.
  8. Should you wish to defer your entry to the University of Dundee, the following rules apply:
    • Deferral within the same academic year: Scholarship can be deferred.
    • Deferral to a new academic year: Scholarship cannot be deferred, and eligibility will be reassessed.
  9. If you are required to repeat a year of study (at any point throughout the duration of your study), UoD reserves the right to remove your scholarship.
  10. Clearing applicants are eligible to receive this scholarship, and eligibility will be assessed as above.
  11. International College Dundee (ICD) applicants are not eligible to receive the Global Excellence Scholarship.
  12. Changes to the programme of study:
    • If you change programme before/ during matriculation or after latest start date (6th of October 2026 ), the University of Dundee reserves the right to re-assess eligibility for scholarships and may withdraw the Scholarship Offer should your eligibility have changed.
    • If you change Fee status or any other personal information before, during or after matriculation, the University of Dundee reserves the right to re-assess eligibility for scholarships and may retract the Scholarship Offer should your eligibility have changed.
  13. If you have paid your tuition fees in full prior to being awarded the Global Excellence Scholarship, the value of the scholarship will be refunded to you after you have enrolled at the University of Dundee. Alternatively, this can be transferred to your University accommodation account balance (if applicable).
