A degree in molecular biology opens the door to many career options. Graduates are in great demand in the pharmaceutical, agricultural, food, biotechnology and healthcare industries, with openings for laboratory work or in the marketing, sales and management areas. Comparable openings can be found in the various agricultural, medical and veterinary research institutes, hospitals and the scientific Civil Service.

Dundee is a rapidly expanding centre for biotechnology with new firms opening and forming links with our biochemists.

We encourage you to do a work placement to get a taste of these new industries.

“After graduating from Dundee, I went on to study MSc Molecular Medicine at the University of Goettingen. I then started working as medical writer and editor in the healthcare sector for two different companies. My Dundee degree enabled me to get a highly competitive place in the study programme "Molecular Medicine". And it also helped me to get a job as medical writer / editor.”
