Teaching

Our teaching takes place in small groups and individual tutorials, led by experts in both disciplines. 

At Level 4 you will study urban design strategies and tackle a complex integrated design project, creating design solutions from urban to detail scale, supported by architectural theory.

At Level 5, you will complete modules in urban planning as well as a design-led research project which will help you develop your knowledge in both disciplines.

Assessment

You will primarily be assessed through:

  • design projects - which draw together architectural and urban planning skills,
  • reports or essays - which examine architectural and urban design history and theory, contemporary management, practice or law

You will develop a complex integrated building design. This will range from understanding an initial brief to resolving technical details

This studio-based module is integral to the Part 2 MArch (Hons) with Urban Planning course. This carries professional recognition from:

  • the Architects Registration Board (ARB)
  • Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA)
  • Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI)

This leads to a jointly accredited award in architecture and planning disciplines.
