Staff teaching support

We provide help and guidance to enable staff to make best use of the digital tools and services available within the Medical School and the wider University

MBChB Moodle

The Medical School’s online platform for delivering the core learning and teaching content across the MBChB programme. University staff and student access to Moodle requires an account on the School’s Unifi system which enables NHS Tayside staff who teach on the MBChB to login with their NHS accounts.

Please contact TILT for any assistance with Moodle and editing access to a particular course.

Collaborate

Collaborate is integrated with MBChB Moodle to provide virtual meeting spaces for online classrooms and other events.

PowerPoint

Whilst we recommend Panopto, we realise that this is not always possible for pre-recording lectures. PowerPoint is an easy-to-use alternative to record audio directly into your PowerPoint slideshow.  We encourage staff to use the School’s PowerPoint template as we work towards standardising presentations and help to meet the University’s accessibility obligations.

Padlet

Padlet is another fantastic online collaboration tool that can increase student engagement. Padlet lets users post notes on a digital wall, and posts can contain links, images, video, comments and more.

Padlet is commonly used in the Medical School for Q&A and information sharing, however there are many creative ways to use Padlet once you get started.

You need a university account to create a Padlet and, depending on the privacy settings, visitors may post notes anonymously.

Panopto

Panopto is the University’s video library and recording service which enables staff to record educational content such as lectures on their own computer or in the University teaching spaces. Panopto is also available to students.

TILT also have a recording pod available if you need a quiet space to pre-record a lecture or tutorial. Please email [email protected] if you would like Panopto training or support for pre-recording content.

Mentimeter

Mentimeter is an interactive presentation and feedback tool that can be used in both online and in-person environments to encourage active learning and participation from your students or audience. Your audience can use their smartphone or other devices to connect to your presentation and answer questions/provide feedback. Please email [email protected] if you would like Mentimeter training for yourself or for your department.

Turnitin

Turnitin Feedback Studio is integrated with Moodle to provide originality checking for student’s text-based work, and to provide tools for marking and feedback. Turnitin
