Below is all the essential information you'll need to get started and make the most of your membership.

Download our app

Your journey begins with our user-friendly app, which is essential for managing your experience with us. Through the app, you can book exercise classes, studio sessions, racquet sports, and hall sports with ease. Additionally, it provides access to our up-to-date timetable, keeping you informed about all activities, events, and important news.

Read our information on bookings and cancellations.

Inductions

To ensure you have a safe and effective workout, we offer induction sessions tailored to your needs.

  • Gym - To help you train confidently and safely, we offer a 45-minute gym induction. This session provides essential guidance on how to use the equipment and train effectively. It’s especially recommended if you’re new to the gym or unfamiliar with our facilities. Book via the app or at Reception.
  • Active Living - Active Living Inductions are for Active Living members with specific health conditions and who may need more tailored advice. Book via the app or at Reception.
  • Strength Hub - If you’d like guidance on using the equipment safely or want to learn more about the Strength Hub rules, just ask at Reception to see if a member of staff is available to help.
  • Cycle Studio - We offer an induction for our Wattbike classes. You can book an induction via our app or watch the instructional video to familiarise yourself with the equipment.

If staff are available, we’re happy to offer ad-hoc tours of the facility - just ask at Reception if you’d like to take a look around and see what we have to offer.

Membership card

Your membership card is your key to the gym. Here’s what you need to know:

  • Student or Staff Memberships: If you’re a student or staff member, we'll link your student or staff ID card directly to your membership.
  • Other Memberships: If you've chosen a different type of membership, you’ll receive a membership card when you visit our facilities for the first time.

This card is essential for entry and tracking your attendance, so always remember to bring it with you.

Lockers

We provide lockers for your convenience, where you can safely store bags, jackets, study materials, and other personal items. As our exercise spaces can get busy, we respectfully request that all members make full use of these lockers to keep their belongings secure and ensure the workout areas remain tidy.

Parking

We have dedicated parking spaces behind the centre for member use. To obtain a permit for one of these spaces, please park your car and swipe in at reception. A staff member will provide you with a permit to display on your car dashboard, which will include your name, membership number, and start time.

This permit grants you 2 hours of complimentary parking while using the facilities, as long as it is properly displayed.

Additional tips for new members

  • Explore our facilities: On your first visit, take some time to explore all the facilities available. From our varied workout spaces like the Gym, Cycle Studio, Strength Hub, group exercise studios, and sports halls, to our wider facilities including the Swimming Pool, Tennis Courts, and Riverside Playing Fields.
  • Ask for help: Don’t hesitate to ask our friendly staff if you need assistance with anything, whether it's how to use a piece of equipment or advice on which classes might suit your goals.
  • Keep hydrated: We encourage you to bring a water bottle to stay hydrated during your workout. Water fountains are available throughout the facility for easy refills. If you happen to forget your bottle, no worries - our on-site vending machines have you covered.
  • Stay updated: Keep an eye on our app, digital screens, and social media channels for updates on new classes, special events, and any changes to our timetables.
