Health psychology is the study of how psychological, behavioural, and cultural factors contribute to health and wellbeing
Professor Fabio Sani is interested in the health implications of social relationships, group membership, and social identities. He uses either interviews or survey data (both qualitative and quantitative).
Dr. Rachel Plouffe's research investigates individual differences and mental health, with a current focus on predictors and outcomes of relationship behaviours. To support this research, the lab uses advanced quantitative methods and draws on diverse samples, including veterans and community populations.
Socio-ecological Wellbeing Research Lab
In the Socio-ecological Wellbeing (SEW) Research Lab, Dr Taylor Hill leads research exploring the personality, social, and community determinants of health, happiness, and well-being.
Self-Regulation Lab
In the Self-Regulation Lab, Dr Blair Saunders leads research investigating how people overcome setbacks, conflicts, or unwanted impulses to achieve both short and long-term goals, including health-related goals.
Psychophysiology and Human Health Lab
In the Psychophysiology and Human Health Lab, Dr Christopher Benwell's research group employs psychophysics, electroencephalography (EEG) and multivariate data analysis in order to identify neural and psychological predictors of perceptual experience, metacognition and neurological/psychiatric disorders.
Art at the Start
The Art at the Start initiative is co-led by art therapist and lecturer Dr Vicky Armstrong and Professor Ross. This line of research explores the impact of engaging with the arts on an infant’s wellbeing, development and attachment relationships.
Dr Emese Nagy’s foetal-neonatal developmental lab explores the earliest social connections, necessary to support infant mental health.
