Understand global best practice

A realist review will examine international palliative care models for neurodegenerative conditions to understand:

  • what works
  • for whom
  • in what contexts
  • why it works

This approach helps identify which elements of global models could realistically and effectively be adapted for Mexico’s health system.

Engage key stakeholders in co-design

Two online Deliberative Dialogue Workshops will bring together:

  • healthcare professionals
  • older adults and family carers (experts by experience)
  • advocates and civil society organisations
  • policymakers
  • researchers

Together, they will evaluate relevant evidence, discuss barriers and opportunities, and co-create recommendations for an adapted palliative care model.

Produce actionable, culturally grounded guidance

The project will develop a practical set of recommendations to guide service providers, educators and policymakers in strengthening palliative care for neurodegenerative conditions in Mexico.

Build long-term international collaboration

The project serves as the foundation for a sustainable, transdisciplinary partnership between Mexico, the UK and Brazil, supporting future research, training and capacity-building in neuro-palliative care.
