Operations Management and Change covers the strategic planning, design, execution, and improvement of an organisation's processes and activities. Learn how to optimise resources, processes, and systems to achieve business goals and adapt to change.  

Managing People and Organisations explores effective leadership, teamwork, communication, and decision-making within diverse workplaces. You will learn about motivation, conflict resolution, ethics, and organisational culture. This will help you better understand your colleagues in the workplace regardless of your career path.

Learn how law and contract allow governments to offer natural resources to investors for mutual benefit.

Learn how host governments attract capital to the sustainable development of their natural resources.

This is done using production-sharing contracts, concession contracts and investment law. You will learn how an energy transition impacts this.

This module will provide you with a critical understanding and knowledge of the way in which legislation and regulation can be used to implement policy decisions to restructure the electricity/gas industries.

This module will provide you with a critical understanding and extensive knowledge of the main regulatory and contractual mechanisms required to make a single jurisdiction work in relation to oil and gas law.

This module will help you to develop originality of thoughts, and skills of research, analysis, substantiated argumentation, and expression. This is the final component of your MSc programme on Energy Studies or Management. You will be guided and supported by an academic supervisor.

This module will introduce the economic principles relevant to the energy sector. It will provide an overview of the tools typically used in performing economic analysis in the energy sector.

This module examines the economics of the oil and gas value chain to support decision making, including exploration and production (including licensing and taxation), transportation, refining, and marketing. It also covers the dynamics of oil and gas prices and their impact on the economy, and methods for monetising natural gas.

This module will give you the opportunity of applying in the workplace, the knowledge and skills learned throughout your programme of studies.

It would also allow you to reflect on how concepts have been contextualised to suit an organisation’s peculiar circumstances.

This module explores the theories and methods of economic regulation for tariff setting in network and regulated industries, e.g. electricity and gas transmission, distribution networks, and pipelines. It also analyses the economics of low carbon technologies such as renewable energy, e.g. wind and solar, electric vehicles, and hydrogen.

In this module, you will first cover key international relations theories. Secondly, you will look at case studies relating to international relations and energy disputes.

This module covers the theories and tools used in commodity trading and risk management for energy and resource industries. It explores the financial theories and modelling techniques both in physical and financial markets, options pricing, real options valuation of physical assets, and risk management in the energy and mining industries.

You will learn about essential analytical tools. You will also develop a critical understanding of climate change and environmental issues. You will learn how these issues relate to global energy use and supply. You will see how they relate to policy instruments dealing with climate change mitigation and adaptation.
