Public health is the science and practice of protecting and improving the health of entire populations. This involves communities, cities, countries rather than treating individual patients. It focuses on prevention, promotion, and policy rather than clinical care.

Global Public Health extends these principles across national borders. It deals with health challenges that are greater than any single country's capacity to address alone.

Global Public Health sits at the core of modern healthcare. It demands professionals who can respond to increasingly complex challenges affecting communities worldwide.

Our PG Dip Global Public Health provides you the knowledge and practical tools to make a real difference.

The course combines educational theory with meaningful real world application in your own professional setting. Your learning will be supported by expert academics and practitioners in the field. This will allow you to shape your learning around your ambitions.

By taking this personalised approach you will be able to develop expertise and confidence. This will allow you to lead meaningful change in global public health.

The PG Diploma comprises completion of the PG Certificate as well as the following three core modules. These will be delivered during the second year of study. In total you will undertake six modules.

The PG Diploma continues with a module that offers biostatistics. This will introduce you to the terminology and concepts of basic statistics. You will also learn how to enable application and interpretation of results.

This module will give you an introduction to statistical procedures for use with routine observational data. This will allow you to understand statistical issues in clinical trials.

You will then follow this with a module looking at maternal health priorities within global public health. This will allow you to develop a nuanced approach and understanding of the key determinants, challenges, and outcomes of maternal health globally.

With this, you will develop the skills needed to design, implement, and evaluate public health programmes. These will be aimed at reducing maternal morbidity and mortality.

Then the final module to gain your PG Diploma provides you with a comprehensive understanding of global patterns and harms from substance use. You will explore alcohol and other drugs. You will also explore how to prevent and reduce substance use and related harms.

This will help you to understand how to prevent and reduce substance use and related harms amongst different population groups and in different local contexts.

You will use tools such as Photovoice. This approach will allow you to capture and analyse photographs to illustrate your findings or reflections. This will allow you to engage creatively and critically with real-world public health challenges.
