Global Public Health (part-time) PGCert
Learn knowledge and practical tools you will need to respond to complex health challenges. This will allow you to make a real difference to affected communities worldwide
Public health is the science and practice of protecting and improving the health of entire populations. This involves communities, cities, countries rather than treating individual patients. It focuses on prevention, promotion, and policy rather than clinical care.
Global Public Health extends these principles across national borders. It deals with health challenges that are greater than any single country's capacity to address alone.
Global Public Health sits at the core of modern healthcare. It demands professionals who can respond to increasingly complex challenges affecting communities worldwide.
Our PG Cert Global Public Health provides you the knowledge and practical tools to make a real difference.
The course combines educational theory with meaningful real world application in your own professional setting. Your learning will be supported by expert academics and practitioners in the field. This will allow you to shape your learning around your ambitions.
By taking this personalised approach you will be able to develop expertise and confidence. This will allow you to lead meaningful change in global public health.
The PG Certificate comprises three core modules. These are delivered during the first year of study.
The course begins with a module that offers a comprehensive understanding of the global public health landscape. Through this foundation, you will gain the essential skills and knowledge to contribute to a wide range of global health programmes. This will support your progression into careers in global public health research and practice.
You will then advance to a module focusing on the fundamental principles of epidemiology. You will explore key epidemiological concepts. This will allow you to develop your skills and ability to analyse and interpret epidemiological data. These are all elements that are central to evidence based decision-making in global public health.
The final module provides both theoretical and practical insight into community mental health. It enables you to deliver and lead high quality mental healthcare. It will also strengthen your ability to contribute to the development of mentally healthy communities.
You will use tools such as Photovoice. This approach will allow you to capture and analyse photographs to illustrate your findings or reflections. This will allow you to engage creatively and critically with real-world public health challenges.
