Biography
Robin Churchill has been Professor of International Law at Dundee since October 2006. Before that, he was at Cardiff University for many years, successively as lecturer, senior lecturer, reader and professor of law. He has also been a lecturer at the University of Tromso (Norway), a research officer at the British Institute of International and Comparative Law, and a visiting fellow at the European University Institute in Florence and at the Centre for Maritime Policy, University of Wollongong (Australia).
Professor Churchill has acted an adviser/consultant to various non-governmental organizations (particularly environmental and fisheries organizations), a number of foreign governments, the European Commission and the European Parliament. He is a member of the editorial boards of the British Year Book of International Law, the International Journal of Marine and Coastal Law and Law, Science and Policy. He is also a member of the Permanent Court of Arbitration's Panel of Arbitrators for Arbitration of Disputes relating to Natural Resources and the Environment.
Professor Churchill has given numerous guest lectures and conference papers, both in the United Kingdom and in nearly 20 other countries.
Research
Professor Churchill's main research interests lie in the fields of the International Law of the Sea, International Environmental Law, EU fisheries law and human rights, on the first three of which he has published widely.

Professor Churchill is partially retired and therefore no longer offers postgraduate supervision.
