Laura holds a BSc (Hons) in Chemistry from University College Dublin and a MSc in Forensic Science from the University of Strathclyde. Laura began her PhD studies in 2013 at the University of Strathclyde and moved with her supervisor and fellow research students to join the Centre for Anatomy and Human Identification (CAHID) in September 2014.
Upon arriving in Dundee, Laura took on the role of laboratory technician with responsibility for the forensic research laboratory within CAHID alongside her PhD studies. Laura's role has expanded to support the research activities of LRCFS.
Laura is currently studying for a PhD under the supervision of Professor Niamh NicDaeid at the Centre for Anatomy and Human Identification (CAHID). The title of her thesis is 'Fingemark Enhancement of Metallic Surfaces'. This project is collaboration between CAHID, Home Office Centre for Applied Science and Technology and the Scottish Police Authority.
