You’ll learn about essentials of laser-matter interaction and understand the role of lasers in industry and modern manufacturing.

You’ll learn about laser marking, cutting, welding, forming, cladding and additive manufacturing

You’ll explore a variety of high-technology manufacturing techniques such nano-scale patterning techniques of metals and ceramic materials using inkjet printing methods, and larger-scale additive manufacturing of polymers and metals.

You’ll participate in class discussions on how the manufacturing technique are applied to manufacture aeroplane parts, improve on traditional metal alloys and to form single crystals structures to be used in microelectronic devices.

You’ll investigate how materials can be post-processed to improve their final finish and to achieve their final properties, such as the application of advanced welding techniques and the rolling of cast alloys.
