This module explores the different property rights (known as the real rights) recognised in Scots law. It covers what each real right is and how it is created, transferred, varied, and extinguished.

An important type of property in any legal system is land. Due to this the module also covers the transfer of ownership of land and the system of land registration.

Other rights that can be created in land will be explored as well. This includes leases, title conditions, and rights in security. Another topic covered in this module is property rights that apply to moveable properly.

Understanding property law is important for individuals and businesses. This is due to the important role that property plays in the political and economic sphere.
