This is a team-based module which aims to provide you with the opportunity to explore a civil engineering design problem in depth.
This will involve several activities of a cross-disciplinary nature, as you would with a real-life project.
What you will learn
In this module, you will:
- work within a team to explore a problem
- gain further experience of conceptual design practices
- gather relevant information from a range of sources
- conduct any required experiments, tests, and prototyping
- develop an understanding of the wide range of issues which need to be examined when designing a civil engineering project
- produce a viable and sustainable solution to the problem, which will be assessed by actual stakeholders and practicing engineers
By the end of this module, you will be able to:
- work with various design software packages to an advanced level
- discuss aspects of design with specialist professionals
- prioritise and plan team activities over a substantial time period
- produce a portfolio for a civil engineering project

This module does not have a final examination.
