Image Guided Therapy Research Facility (IGTRF)
IGTRF offers a revolutionary platform for medical device development, first-in-human testing, surgical and endovascular training and device innovation

IGTRF is a unique testing and training facility that can replicate ‘life-like’ clinical scenarios using a Thiel perfused human cadaveric model and state-of-the-art imaging facilities (digital subtraction angiography, IVUS, ultrasound, and photon-counting detection). In collaboration with the Centre for Anatomy and Human Identification (CAHID), IGTRF has pioneered the development of a Thiel cadaveric model that enables extracorporeal perfusion of both arterial and venous system.
The perfusion human anatomy allows:
- A wide range of endovascular interventions in the brain, heart, lung, extremities, and abdomen, including both the arterial and venous system
- A wide range of surgical interventions, e.g. stenting, heart valve replacement, Thoracic Endovascular Aortic Repair (TEVAR), treatment of arterial stenosis, and the use of lasers and robotics
- Ventilation of the lung to simulate movement and simulated flow scenarios in the heart
- Robust support for regulatory submissions.
- Individual and team training in cutting-edge interventional techniques.
- Multimodal imaging (DSA angiography, ultrasound, IVUS, endoscopy)
We are an internationally recognised facility offering tailored services to global clients. IGTRF works closely with our key partner TayMed Connect, a collaborative network uniting the NHS, industry, and academia to drive the discovery and development of innovative solutions for patient care.
Our technicians and clinicians in IGTRF will work with you to support training for clinicians, teams, or your personnel. We will assist you with your regulatory approvals by designing and running medical device verification or validation studies with you, using the perfused human cadaveric model. Please contact us to discuss how we can support your project needs.
Facilities

IGTRF integrates cutting edge imaging technology to facilitate tailored medical device testing, training and innovative research.Newly renovated Interventional Room 1 with state-of-the-art angiography technology – Siemens ARTIS icono, Interventional Room 2, and wet lab facilities. There are also seminar suites with internal live link ups available.
Training

Training is led by experts in the field. Using our bespoke training facilities that include a fully equipped DSA Cath-lab we provide operator and team training in complex endovascular procedures and pathways.Regular WIST accredited courses are led by Professor Iris Grunwald, a diagnostic and interventional neuroradiologist.
Acknowledgements
We are incredibly grateful for the generous support from Tay Cities and The Dow Memorial Trust, allowing us to renovate key interventional spaces and purchase next generation imaging equipment.
This support has been instrumental in enhancing our facilities, ensuring a better experience for all who use them and enabling us to deliver high quality imaging for our clients.
