Do I need a well-formed idea for a spin out company?

No, you just need to be working in a research area that has or will have outputs that could be exploited in a new company.

At the end of the course, everyone will have a well-formed analysis of their idea and ongoing help from RIS and CfE to take it forward. Cash awards may be available to fund expert support and services.

Course themes

  • Is my ideal real? Does it have a customer?
  • Is my idea viable? Does it work financially?
  • Is my idea feasible? What steps are needed to develop the technology?
  • How do I protect my idea?
  • How will I make money from it?
  • How do I get support to make it happen?

These and other questions will be answered by experts from the University and specialist partners.

How to Apply

We will only ask you to provide your details, a bit about your area of research, and the progress you’ve made towards IP protection and/ or commercialisation so far.
