Dow Memorial Trust Scholarship 2026/27 (“the Bursary”)
This Key Facts Document sets out the main details of the Scholarship, as at date of publication. This document should be reviewed alongside the University of Dundee Scholarship Terms and Conditions, as those terms and conditions will provide you with additional information that apply to you in respect of the Scholarship. If there is any inconsistency between this Key Facts Document and the University of Dundee Scholarship Terms and Conditions, the provisions of the Scholarship Terms and Conditions will prevail.
Date of publication
December 2025, applicable to 2026/7 academic year (September 2026 entry).
Application process
- The University Admissions team will automatically assess your personal information to confirm your eligibility to apply for this Scholarship. If eligible we will provide you with further information and instructions on how to apply.
- This verification process will happen at the initial offer stage.
Who is eligible
- All Undergraduate students, regardless of fee status, studying either:.
- Dentistry BDS or
- Medicine MBChB
The scholarship is not open to students on Gateway to Medicine or the ScotGEM Graduate Entry Medical Programme.
Key information
When awarded the Scholarship is payable in each year of study and the value is in the order of:
- Years 1 - 3 £2,000 per year
- Year 4 - £2,500
- Year 5 - £2700 (year 5 has an additional amount to help with the GMB/GMC registration fee)
In Years 1-4 the Scholarship is paid in equal instalments each semester by the School of Medicine or Dentistry Office.
The Scholarship must commence in your first year of studies at the University of Dundee (September 2026 intake).
- Should you wish to defer your entry to the University of Dundee, the following rules apply:
- Deferral to a new academic year: The Scholarship cannot be deferred.
- Changes to the programme of study:
- If you change your programme of study before/during matriculation or after the latest start date (30.09.2026), the Dow Trust reserves the right to re-assess your eligibility for the scholarship and may withdraw the Scholarship Offer should your eligibility have changed.
- We may also communicate with you using any email address you have provided to us. Types of communication may be:
- Confirming the Scholarship
- Informing you that you have not met the criteria to be awarded the Scholarship.
- Requesting further information.
- The University of Dundee is unable to disclose details of the scholarship to anyone other than you unless you provide us with your consent to do so.
- The Scholarship will be suspended for periods of leave / absence. The Scholarship will be reinstated on your return to full time study from the point at which you re-enter the MBChB or BSD programme. For the avoidance of any doubt, the maximum amount that can be paid under this Scholarship is £11,000.
- Should you withdraw from your programme of study, the University of Dundee may be in contact regarding payment of fees and scholarship balance. This includes where you have taken an approved leave of absence (temporary withdrawal of studies) either over a whole academic year or part of an academic year.
- All scholarship decisions are final and cannot be appealed.
