Student Curatorial Team

On this page

Cooper Gallery's Student Curatorial Team is a voluntary group, which gives DJCAD students the opportunity to develop an understanding and experience of all aspects of curation and exhibition-making in a collaborative environment. If you have an art or a design background, you can apply to join the team.

Our annual programme consists of a diverse range of activities, so that you can learn the contexts, concerns, and approaches in current curatorial practice.

You'll develop practical skills in

  • writing exhibition proposals and gallery interpretation
  • marketing
  • project planning
  • installing exhibitions and hosting events

The Cooper Gallery team and invited speakers (including alumni of the team) will deliver talks and workshops to help you develop these skills.

With support from the Cooper Gallery team, you will also have an opportunity to produce your own curatorial projects such as exhibitions, public engagement events, and research-led projects. You'll be able to publish your critical writing and exhibition reviews on the gallery's blog: Cooper Gallery Notes.

How to apply

Applications are accepted from all disciplines and all levels of study at DJCAD. This is a learning space and no prior experience is required. If you would like more information on how to join the Student Curatorial Team please email: exhibitions@dundee.ac.uk.
