We are recruiting for an exceptional individual to join us as a post-doctoral research assistant within the Division of Molecular Microbiology, to contribute to the identification and validation of novel drug targets in Klebsiella pneumoniae. This is a fixed-term appointment until 31'1 January 2029.
You will generate gene deletion and reporter stains of K. pneumoniae and perform screens for identification of novel antimicrobial compounds under conditions reflective of different infection niches. Promising hits will be confirmed and validated using secondary screens that will include microscopy, flow cytometry and infection models.
Please note that applications made on a part-time basis for this role will not be considered.
Your priorities will include:
- Compound screening to identify potential antimicrobials
- Secondary assay development and delivery
- Preparation of reports and presentations
- Supervision of junior team members
Who we're looking for:
- You will hold a PhD in Molecular Microbiology
- A track record of publication in microbiology or a related discipline
- Prior experience of cloning and mutagenesis in bacteria
- Competency in a range of bacterial phenotypic assays
