Strategic Advisory Taskforce

The University of Dundee Strategic Advisory Taskforce, chaired by Sir Alan Langlands, has published its report

The University of Dundee Strategic Advisory Taskforce report

The Taskforce was set up by the Scottish Government in April 2025 to advise the University, Scottish Funding Council, key civic and business partners and Scottish Government Ministers on our recovery and the role we will play locally and nationally.

I would like to thank Sir Alan, who is of course a former Dundee Principal and a friend of the University, Taskforce partners and the Scottish Government for all their work in bringing this report together.

I am also very grateful to colleagues from the University who contributed to the Taskforce and who attended a series of workshops where various elements of the group’s work were discussed.

These thought-provoking and sometimes challenging discussions helped inform our thinking when producing the University Recovery Plan. The workshops also allowed us to strengthen relationships with partner organisations and the ideas arising from these sessions will guide us as the University implements its recovery and continues to engage with collaborators across the region.

The Taskforce identified the University’s many strengths while recognising the challenges we face as we begin our recovery.  I would encourage all members of our community to read the Taskforce report and to continue to engage with our Institutional Listening Exercise, either by filling in the Microsoft form that remains open until 29 August or by attending one of the in-person sessions that take place throughout this month.

Thank you to everyone who has already shared views and experiences. Your insights and support will be invaluable as we work to rebuild our university.

Interim Principal and Vice Chancellor
