University recovery plan - Future Students
Details of our University recovery plan and what it means for future students
The University is working with the Scottish Government and Scottish Funding Council to address a significant financial deficit and put the University on a path to a more sustainable future.
First Minister John Swinney
We are committed to continuing to provide an excellent student experience and first-class teaching at Dundee. This is a great place to live, work and study for your degree, as shown by our being named the Scottish University of the Year 2025 (Daily Mail University Guide).
We are actively recruiting new students to start in September 2025 and January 2026, with a full prospectus and have been hosting open days and visit days. You can book on to one of these now.
The current situation is challenging, but we are working to ensure the strongest possible future for the University and all in our community. There will be changes to the size and shape of the University as move on, but throughout all of that we will be prioritising the quality of the student experience.
We are ready to welcome you to Dundee and to provide you with an excellent university experience.
Courses
We are offering a full prospectus for 2025-26.
Student experience is at the heart of what we do, and that means you can help shape the future. We’re refocusing our provision to match student interests and needs, ensure the highest quality learning provision, and ensure sustainability.
We are determined to ensure that all in-demand courses are protected for the future and all University of Dundee campuses will be maintained.
Our commitment to offer holders
We will ensure that no offers of admission are rescinded, but that equivalent courses are always available.
Our offer to you is a sign that we are ready to welcome you to Dundee.
Module provision
We are streamlining provision while prioritising the excellence and student support the University of Dundee is renowned for as Scottish University of the Year (Daily Mail University Guide 2025).
We are evaluating the sustainability of our teaching, and where modules have consistently low enrolment numbers, some may be suspended to improve teaching efficiency – this is part of our standard processes for improving the quality of courses. This could affect a small number of Level 3 and 4 modules, mostly for taught postgraduate courses, but it might also impact some undergraduate courses. A reasonable level of choice will be retained in Levels 3 and 4.
Professional accreditations
Our staff/student ratios are, and will remain, in line with accreditation standards.
Impacts on student experience
We continue to offer high-quality student experience, both inside and outside the classroom.
Any changes we make will ensure we maintain our high standards of teaching and research as Scottish University of the Year (Daily Mail University Guide 2025).
